Analysis= of=20 NRT scores for 2006-2008 reveals weak areas=20 Vocabulary,Reading Comprehension, and language=20 arts-mechanics.
Northwood is only a Stage IV school in the=20 Formative Evaluation Program for School Improvem= ent.=20 According to the School Observation Measure Find= ings=20 from 2004, 2005, and 2006, academically focused = class=20 time and level of student=20 attention/interest/engagement were rated as mode= rate=20 to high. However, direct instruction was the mos= t=20 prevalent strategy in 2004-05, 2005 - 2006. Duri= ng=20 these years, team teaching and cooperative leari= ng=20 were observed more at Northwood. This may indica= te an=20 improvement in the area of cooperative learning.= =20
The attendance rates at Northwood are positi= ve. In=20 2005 - 2006, average daily attendance was 95.21%= for=20 the year. The 2006 - 2007 year has shown a sligh= t=20 decrease to 95.15% average daily attendance. The= =20 average daily attendance showed another slight=20 decrease to 94.01% in 2007 - 2008.=20
Based on a comprehensive needs assessment th= at=20 reflects an in=3Ddepth trend analysis of multipl= e data=20 sources across multiple grade levels and content= =20 areas, we found that our areas of need in our co= mbined=20 population to be Content. Thiss conlclusion has = been=20 obtained by studying the CRT, NRT, and intermitt= ent=20 assessments. This is true as well four our sub=20 populations of African Americans and students wi= th=20 free and reduced lunches.

Goal

Benchmark

At the end of the 2008-09 school year, 63.3.3% o= f=20 our combined poulation was proficient or above in= =20 Literacy. At the end of the 2009-2010 school year,= 73.3%=20 will score proficient or above. Annually we will i= mprove=20 by 7.34%. At the end of the 2009 school year,52.1%= of=20 the African Amercan students scored proficient or = above.=20 By the end of the 2010 school year, 62.1% will sco= re=20 proficient or above. By the end of the 2010 school= year,=20 59.5% will score proficient or above. Annually we = will=20 improve by 10% (safe harbor).

In the Formative Evaluation Program for Scho= ol=20 Improvement (FEPSI), performance-based assessmen= t=20 strategies were increasingly observed in 2005, 2= 006,=20 and 2007 during the school visits. Because of th= e low=20 open response scores in Math, this is a point of= focus=20 to continue to work on. Team teaching and cooper= ative=20 learning were on the rise and increasing in effe= ct in=20 the year 2007.=20
The attendance rates at Northwood are positi= ve. In=20 2005 - 2006, average daily attendance was 95.21%= for=20 the year. The 2006 - 2007 year has shown a sligh= t=20 decrease to 95.15% average daily attendance. The= =20 average daily attendance showed another slight=20 decrease to 94.01% in 2007 - 2008.=20
Based on a comprehensive needs assessment th= at=20 reflects an in=3Ddepth trend analysis of multipl= e data=20 sources across multiple grade levels and content= =20 areas, we found that our areas of need in our co= mbined=20 population to be Open Responses in Math. Thiss=20 conlclusion has been obtained by studying the CR= T,=20 NRT, and intermittent assessments. This is true = as=20 well four our sub populations of African America= ns and=20 students with free and reduced lunches.

Goal

All Northwood students will improve in the areas= of=20 Math Computation with a special emphasis on the ab= ility=20 to answer open response questions clearly and corr= ectly=20 in the algebra and geometry domains.

Benchmark

At the end of the 2008 - 2009 school year, 68.4%= of=20 our combined poulation was proficient or above in = Math.=20 At the end of the 2009 - 2010 school year, 78.4% w= ill=20 score proficient or above. Annually we will improv= e by=20 6.32%.

Because this is a vague term,= there=20 was a consensus in the Teacher Advisory Committe= e to=20 become more specific in the description of the o= ffense=20 to show if the offense may also fall in another = area=20 on the referral.=20
Demographic breakdown of the total suspensio= ns in=20 the year 2006 of 291 total male suspensions, 48%= were=20 Caucasian and 52% were African American. Of 92 t= otal=20 female suspensions, 32% were Caucasian and 68% w= ere=20 African American. In the year 2007 of 291 total = male=20 suspensions, 48% were Caucasian and 52% were Afr= ican=20 American. Of 92 total female suspensions, 32% we= re=20 Caucasian and 68% were African American. In the = school=20 year 2007 - 2008, 247 total male suspensions, 46= % were=20 Caucasian and 54% were African American. Of 117 = total=20 female suspensions, 37% were Caucasian and 63% w= ere=20 African American. While there is an overall high= er=20 rate of male suspensions in this data, there is = a=20 trend that points to a continuous climb in=20 African-American female suspensions. According to the FEPSI School Climate Invent= ory,=20 parent involvement in a home and school support= =20 network was rated at 34.1% in 2003-04 and increa= sed=20 slightly to 35.5% in 2004-05, and 55.6% in 2005 = - 06.=20 This figure has increased due to a drastic incre= ase in=20 the percentage of respondents. "Project Wisdom" is a year long character= =20 education program where students are recogni= zed=20 for exhibiting positive character traits on = a=20 weekly basis. Daily annoucncements and stude= nt=20 skits introduce each trait of the week. Stud= ents=20 who receive recognition will be able to earn= =20 incentives.
